The most desirable cars on the market are those made by Bugatti, without a doubt. This brand has been in charge of conquering the true fans of four-wheel machines. The latest version of the Chiron has more than one totally crazy and at TORK we show you this incredible supercar.
The final edition of the Chiron Super Sport 300+, built in honor of the model’s record-breaking 304.773mph top speed run, has now been delivered, completing its production run of just 30 models. Breaking new ground in straight-line performance, this Chiron Super Sport 300+ is a masterclass in engineering finished, like every other 300+, with exposed carbon fiber bodywork and Jet Orange accents.
When the Chiron Super Sport 300+, driven by Bugatti Official Driver Andy Wallace, broke the 300mph barrier in 2019, the world stood up; never before had a production car reached such speeds. It immediately took a place in history and now stands as a marker in the quest for ever-increasing performance and speed. Following the world record success, during a Bugatti 110th anniversary celebration, Bugatti committed to building 30 examples of the record-breaking car for customers, the last of which has gone to his private home.
To achieve its uncharted top speed of 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h), the Chiron Super Sport 300+ had to go beyond the extreme standards set by the Bugatti Chiron 2 in terms of power and aerodynamics. A redesigned version of Bugatti’s legendary 8.0-litre W16 engine outpowers the Chiron by 100bhp, for a total of 1600bhp. Bugatti’s world-class engineering team developed a new thermal management system for the hypercar’s engine and gearbox, as well as refining the software that governs the engine, gearbox, powertrain and turbochargers.
But power is nothing without stability, especially at speeds never before mastered by a production car. While staying true to the timeless beauty of the Chiron’s design language, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ features a “long tail” that extends the car by approximately 25cm. This allows laminar flow to pass over the body for a longer period of time, reducing aerodynamic stall by more than 40%. Air curtains that grace the hyper sports car’s front corners disperse excess air pressure to the sides of the car. Simultaneously, air vents in the wheel arches and behind the front wheels direct excess pressure away from each wheel arch, reducing drag while also producing a small amount of negative lift.
The Chiron Super Sport 300+’s liberal use of exposed carbon fiber flows through the car’s engine cover and even the windscreen wiper, contributing to crucial weight savings that help the hyper sports car push the limits of performance. Subtle touches, including the Bugatti ‘Macaron’ logo made of genuine silver and black enamel, add to the feeling of exclusivity and rarity. The extremely light and strong magnesium-alloy wheels are finished in a bespoke color called ‘Nocturne’.
All 30 examples of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ have already been delivered, each a unique piece of automotive history as well as one of the fastest and most technically advanced cars in the world.
