Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, tweeted that the Ukrainian government will accept war effort contributions in the form of donations and purchases of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Through the official cryptocurrency fund “Help for Ukraine”, individuals can donate cryptocurrencies, fiat money and now NFTs. Until now, the initiative has raised more than USD 60 million, depending on the website.
All funds are used to supply Ukrainians with weapons, medical equipment, first aid kits and other expenses listed on the Help for Ukraine website. Total expenses amounted to USD 45,103,538 as of April 14. The Help for Ukraine platform is powered by cryptocurrency exchanges FTX and Kuna, and staking provider Everstake.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation is the beneficiary organization for several NFT projects, including Russia For Sale, which sells Russian land in the form of NFTs, and Holy Water, which supports local Ukrainian NFT artists, among others. Those who purchase NFTs from one of the organizations will contribute directly to the Ministry’s cryptocurrency wallet.
At press time, the NFTs donated by “UkrainianCryptoFund” and available for bidding on OpenSea come from collections such as, CryptoPunks, mfers, MoonCats, TIMEPieces by Time Magazine, CREYZIES Y Chubbiverse Frens. All these collections only accept Ether (ETH) How paid.
Just as the Ukrainian government has fully embraced digital assets to support humanitarian efforts, many citizens, both Ukrainian and Russian, have had to become familiar with and accept the use of cryptocurrencies to support themselves. Fedorov he pointed for the first time in a tweet on March 3 that the government would soon use NFT to help pay its military. Since then, Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation has also launched a virtual NFT gallery to keep the memory of the war alive.
