The Tomorrow Children was one of the titles that came to PS4 exclusively in 2016. However, shortly after it was launched, its servers were shut down. Several years have passed since then, and it seems that the director of the game, Dylan Cuthbert, is trying fight PlayStation to seize the rights to the game once again. The reason, as reported by IGN, is the director’s hope to see a relaunch of the title.
During a celebration to the fifth anniversary of the game, Dylan Cuthbert offered some statements about the reason for the closure, and what are the plans you have for the future with the IP from The Tomorrow Children. Cuthbert claims to have ideas in mind to relaunch the game, but unfortunately IP is from Sony at present. Then we leave you their full statements:
Unfortunately right now the IP is from Sony, actually. So I’ll keep trying to get the IP back, and if I get it back I’ll definitely think of ways to relaunch it, but without a server I think. Because it was the running costs of the servers that brought it down, if it hadn’t we probably could have kept it going and people could have kept playing, right?
The The Tomorrow Children’s server shutdown was decisive for the game. This title came in multiplayer form, with touches «soviets»In which we controlled a lot of children / dolls, something deductible by the name of the game. The Tomorrow Children received mixed reviews on his releases, but luckily he managed to gather a pretty strong fan base. Unfortunately, after the shutdown of their servers in 2017, it has been totally unplayable.
Until now, the director of the game assures that «We don’t know anything yet“, so the possible acquisition of the IP is still under consideration. Nevertheless, Cuthbert is optimistic, and tells us that “hopefully, at some point in the future, maybe we can get the IP back and try to get what we do from there to work.”
