Tesla turns to the Asian Giant in order to respond to the demands of its customers in the European market. The Tesla Model Y produced in China will arrive in Europe due to delays in the start-up of the Gigafactory located in Berlin, Germany.
European drivers have been waiting a long time for the arrival of the Tesla Model Y. The popular electric car brand is finalizing the details to finally materialize the arrival to the Old Continent of its most affordable SUV. However, the first copies of the Model Y that Tesla will deliver to its customers will not bear the “Made in Europe” stamp as originally anticipated. Nothing is further from reality.
The Tesla Model Y manufactured in China will arrive in Europe. In a matter of a few weeks, the first units of the Model Y arriving directly from the Gigafactory that Tesla has in the Asian country will land in European dealers. More specifically in Shanghai. According to a German news agency, the first deliveries will take place in August.
The Chinese Tesla Model Y will be exported to Europe
We must bear in mind that, today, in addition to North America, the Model Y is also produced in China. Now, what has led Tesla to make this decision? Well, neither more nor less than the continuous ones delays in the start of production at the new Gigafactory in Berlin (Germany). The Model Y will be manufactured in these European facilities, but the aforementioned delays have caused the company to implement this temporary measure.
Tesla planned to start production of the European Model Y this July with the first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of 2021. Unfortunately, this has not occurred. After the undoubted commercial success of the Tesla Model 3, the Model Y is called to play a relevant role in a market where SUVs account for a large part of sales. It will face the best electric cars.
In the period between the months of January and May 2021, the Tesla sales in Europe
they grew 42% to reach 41,230 units. The vast majority of sales corresponded to the Model 3, a total of 40,858 units. The company also sold 277 examples of the Model X and 155 of the Model S.
When will the Tesla Model Y arrive in Spain?
If we venture into the Tesla configurator in Spain, we will find that there are two estimated delivery dates for the new Model Y. Buyers who have ordered a Great Autonomy model
they will have to keep waiting until September. For its part, Performance version will be here later. Specifically, we are talking about the beginning of 2022.
Once activity at the Tesla Germany Gigafactory is in full swing, they expect to produce half a million Model 3 and Model Y units annually.
