Life takes many turns and Microsoft has proven to learn from mistakes, sometimes. It has gone from being a company that was the champion of private software to being quite open. Yes, you still have a lot of confidence in this area, but it has been opened to Linux and other systems. This is the most open Microsoft to date to the point of offering Edge on Linux.
Microsoft Edge now available on Linux
After a journey of a few months in which Microsoft has been progressing little by little, stable Microsoft Edge is now available on Linux. As in any other compilation they have started with the Canary channel, Dev and finally the Beta channel before the official launch.
Well the reality is they started with the Dev channel and since then we have seen different fixes every week until the people of Naked Security has detected the stable version of Microsoft Edge in the repository.
It surprises that Microsoft has not announced the arrival of the stable version to Linux in any of its channels. This is a very important moment for the Redmond giant. It is the first time they present a browser on Linux and the reality is that Edge is proving to do things very well.
We hope that Microsoft Edge on Linux will attract the attention of users and that the Redmond giant will be able to convince the most reluctant users. It has always been considered Microsoft an enemy of free software and now they offer their browser for Linux. It will not be an easy task to convince the most reluctant users, but we wish you all the luck in the world on your new journey. Now Microsoft Edge is available on Windows, Android, iOS, macOS, and Linux, becoming the most widely distributed browser by Microsoft. We will see if it reaps greater success.
