Smart technicians continue with the testing program of the new 100% electric crossover. The new Smart #1, which already has prices and equipment, will be released in the European market in 2024, so it is time to adjust the European specifications of the two batteries it will offer.
Smart has already announced the prices and equipment of the new 100% electric crossover that it has presented, an attractive model that will burst onto the market early 2023 with a special edition launch. An advance for a few lucky ones who will be able to show off a model with a lot of style. The new Smart #1 it’s almost ready to take on the premium market, because it’s been conceived precisely to maintain a more distinctive status.
However, the manufacturer continues with the testing program of this model, judging by the latest spy photos of this model taken in southern Europe. The new electric model will be offered in two versions, one with a rear electric motor that produces a maximum power of 200kW -equivalent to 272 hp– and a sportier one with the seal of BRABUS which adds a second front electric motor with a total power of 315kwnothing less than 428 hp. In both, the battery has a useful capacity of 66 kWh, providing a maximum autonomy of 440 kilometers, in the second it will decrease to 390 kilometersapproximately and without confirmation.
With these configurations, starting prices are expected to not fall below 40,000 Euros, as a minimum, which is why the brand has decided to expand the offer with a new battery that will have a 49 kWh net usable capacity. Logically, autonomy will be sacrificed by falling below 400 kilometersand it will not be available in the sports variant or in the top-of-the-range finish and equipment, but will be associated with the “Pure” and “Pro”, and only with the 200 kW engine.
The firm plans to extend the tests with this battery until well into 2023, thus giving a very generous space of time for the electric crossover to be launched on the European market and conquer the public, to at the end of next year announce the most affordable battery. Some deliveries that have been planned for early 2024.
