Skoda has big plans for its successful 100% electric SUV. The Skoda Enyaq iV will become part of the RS model family and will therefore follow in the footsteps of the recently launched Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS iV. The new and expected Skoda Enyaq RS iV will be a reality before the end of the year.
The coming-out of new Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV has generated a lot of interest. And not only because it is the brand’s second 100% electric SUV Skoda. The commercial success of the Skoda Enyaq iV in certain European markets suggests that its coupe-type alternative in the range will be ready to follow the same path. However, and beyond this issue, with the help of the new Enyaq Coupé iV, a historic event has occurred for the Czech manufacturer. The debut of Skoda’s first electric RS model.
The future of Skoda’s RS models will inevitably go through electrification at the highest level. The new Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS iV It marks the course that many other releases will follow. That is why, at the time of its debut in society, all eyes have been on the current Enyaq iV. Will it also have a high-performance RS variant? The top leader of the brand has cleared all doubts.
There will be a Skoda Enyaq RS iV, a new high-performance electric SUV
At present, the sportiest version that we can find in the Enyaq IV range corresponds to the Sportline trim level. In its most performance configuration, it develops a power of 195 kW (265 hp) and 425 Nm of maximum torque. In addition, by equipping an engine per axle, it has an all-wheel drive configuration. However, they are figures that are quite far from the 220 kW that the new Enyaq Coupé RS iV has.
Thomas Schäfer himself, CEO of Skoda, assured that there will be an Enyaq RS iV. When asked if we will see an RS variant of Skoda’s first electric SUV, he bluntly assured that: “Absolutely. It will start to be released from the second half of this year, and I can tell you that this variant looks fantastic.”
Skoda opted for the Enyaq Coupé iV to launch its first electric RS model because its SUV Coupé format gives it a more dynamic and sporty appearance. In any case, both models will share a propulsion system. So there will be no surprises as to what lies in the bowels of the Enyaq RS iV.
Skoda Enyaq RS iV, all-wheel drive and a 82 kWh battery
The new Enyaq RS iV will be powered by two electric motors that will develop a power of 220 kW and 460 Nm of maximum torque. Motors powered by the energy stored in a 82 kWh lithium-ion battery (77 useful kWh). Thanks to this propulsion system you can reach a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
On the other hand, and no less importantly, we must bear in mind that the new Enyaq Coupé RS iV will be the most expensive model of Skoda. Schäfer clarified that he was not concerned about an issue that seems decisive: «The image of the brand has improved throughout Europe. We’re not the brand of old jokes, so we think we prove this with the models we sell now, like the Octavia and Superb. This model (Enyaq Coupé RS iV) will probably be the most expensive in our range, but it is the most powerful RS we have ever made and it will be a beautiful car. I think even at this price the car is good value for money and we are confident it will be a hit.”
