Michelangelo decorated the vault of the chapel commissioned by Pope Julius II. It took him four years to complete the work, which took him from 1508 to 1512, giving rise to a work of art that would change the course of Western art.
Later, between 1536 and 1541, he would paint The final judgement on the altar wall, for Popes Clement VII and Paul III. More than half a millennium later, Michelangelo’s frescoes continue to attract throngs of visitors and are considered one of the masterpieces in the history of painting.
The exhibition has already passed through churches, museums, congress halls… in places like Shanghai, Chicago, Phoenix, Berlin or Vienna, among many other cities. It has done so by reproducing, by means of powerful lighting and using high-definition licensed photographs, each of the 34 frescoes that cover the Sistine Chapel from floor to ceiling.
