Warner Bros. Pictures finds itself in dire need of making scheduling adjustments for three of its most anticipated film releases in the coming months as a result of ongoing strikes in Hollywood. Dune: Part 2, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and The Lord of the Rings: The Rohirrim War will change their respective release dates.
The sequel to Dune becomes the biggest casualty to date for Warner’s schedule in the remainder of 2023. The studio and Legendary Pictures reached an agreement to move the release of Denis Villeneuve’s epic from November 2 to March 15, 2024. In accordance with The Hollywood Reporter, insiders report that both parties could not wait any longer to make a decision, given that the promotion of Dune: Part 2 it was to start no later than early September.
It is worth remembering that the actors are prohibited from doing any type of publicity while the guild strike is still going on. And a production like Dunewith an all-star cast led by Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, would struggle to reach its full box office potential without that publicity push from on-camera talent.

However, that move had a domino effect. And it is that Dune Part: Two took its rightful place Godzilla x Kong: The New Empirewhich will now hit theaters until April 12, 2024. Likewise, the MonsterVerse movie took the position of the animated film The Lord of the Rings: The Rohirrim Warwhose premiere is rescheduled for the December 13, 2024.
But it’s not all bad news for movie theaters. Warner Bros. will maintain its three most important bets by the end of 2023: wonka (December 15), aquaman and the lost kingdom (December 20) and the color purple (December 25 in the US; January 25, 2024 in Mexico).
