The remake of ‘Fire Eyes’ (Firestarter, 1984), the Stephen King adaptation that served as inspiration for Eleven from ‘Stranger Things’ is already on its way from Universal and Blumhouse and the trailer for this latest adaptation has just appeared of king that will arrive in American theaters at the same time as on the Peacock platform on May 13, 2022although in Spain it has only been specified that it will be “soon”.
A different version full of action
The score for ‘Eyes of Fire’ is composed by the legendary John Carpenter and fellow songwriters from the ‘Halloween’ franchise, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. This is especially noteworthy considering that Carpenter was the originally chosen director for the first version of the film in the 1980s, before leaving the project.

The film is written by Scott Teems and directed by Keith Thomas, who made the disturbing horror film ‘The Vigil’. The cast will feature Zac Efron, Sydney Lemmon, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Michael Greyeyes, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, and Gloria Reuben. According to producer Jason Blum to EW:
“It’s a remake that I’ve thought about doing for a long time and we finally got the right mix of people to pull it off. I’m really proud of it, I’m really excited for people to see it. It’s going to be a different ‘Eyes of Fire’ but it’s still being very, very faithful to the very emotional core. I saw The Vigil, I loved it, I thought the director would be a perfect fit for the project. I showed the film to Stephen King and he was happy with it. He was very generous with his response and feedback and I was very happy about it.”
