There doesn’t seem to be very good news.
Despite the fact that yesterday we could see how various games were announced at the Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live event, the truth is that there were several names that we knew they weren’t going to come out, while some titles from PlayStation, Nintendo and other companies were not going to make an appearance. However, among all the titles that have not been, there is one that the fans knew for a fact that they were not going to see even a logo, this being the remake of Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic.
All this does not come from nowhere or from unfounded speculation, since the latest information we know about the title indicates that it is having many problems in its development, which is coming hand in hand with the fact that, after the announcement and the release date of Dead Island 2, the title of the Jedi could become the new eternal promise. And it seems that things are worse than we expected.
Saber Interactive are the new responsible for the remake of Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic
According to a report by Bloomberg, the development of the game would have been completely paralyzed recently, being so Aspyr would have lost development of the remake of Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic to make way for Saber Interactive is the new manager of this projectbeing so that everything stays at home, since both studies belong to The Embracer Group, known in recent times for its multiple purchases.
Likewise, according to a financial report by Embracer Group, there would have been a recent change of studio with one of its titles and that it would have been done to ensure that quality standards are met, although they mention that no delay is expected, this being something unthinkable if we take into account that, probably, the development of the title will have restarted. Needless to say, everything indicates that this title is the remake of Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic.
On the other hand, Bloomberg mentions that Disney and Sony were not happy with the development of Aspyr, being so that the project would have passed to Saber because they were lending their help to the project. For the rest, we will have to see how this story ends, but know that Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic remake will be released at some point for PS5 and PC.
