Recording Academy and OneOf, a non-expendable token (NFT) green market backed by legendary record producer Quincy Jones, have announced an exclusive partnership focused on the next three years of the Grammy Awards in an unsigned statement on the website of the Grammys.
Details on specific NFT collections will be released in January, but will celebrate awards, nominees and recipients alike. Part of the money from the sale of the assets will go to fund the Recording Academy scholarship fund. OneOf, built on top of the Tezos blockchain, is designed specifically for musicians and listeners. Panos Panay, Co-President of the Recording Academy, said:
“As an Academy, we are always looking for ways to help artists discover new forms of creative expression, while also creating new forms of income generation and ways for fans to interact with the artists they love. OneOf shares that vision and we are proud to work with a sustainable NFT company. “
OneOf co-founders Adam Fell, Joshua James and Lin Dai echoed their own excitement over the announcement, saying:
“Used to their full potential, NFTs will empower the music industry in a way that few other technologies have. It is a great honor to work with this prestigious organization to help guide this bright future for the industry. “
OneOf launched in August. The platform has hosted previous tokens from Doja Cat, The Game, iHeartRadio Music Festival, and Alesso. Whitney Houston, TLC and G-Eazy have also signed agreements for future deliveries with the company.. The company raised $ 63 million prior to launch.
