Peugeot Sport lives in a continuous time trial. The sporting arm of the lion firm returns to the WEC queen class in 2022 and does so from a hybrid LMH prototype. Baptized as 9X8, the new vehicle of the Gallic house is in full development, a phase that is being carried out with the utmost secrecy. However, Mat Fernandez and his team have discovered some of the details of the new Peugeot 9X8 in a television report made by ‘Turbo’ on the French channel M6. Although in these cases the brands only show what they want, there are really interesting details in this report.
In fact, the crew of the program has indirectly given some of the deadlines that Peugeot manages in the development of its new 9X8. Along these lines, Mat Fernandez has explained in this report that the start-up of the first engine of the Peugeot LMH took place during the recording of the program at the Satory factory between August and September. It should be remembered that the prototype mounts a 2.6-liter 90º V6 biturbo engine. The brand has produced a dozen units of this propellant for testing, without there being any reference to the hybrid system in the report.
The TV show has also dropped some pills in the form of exclusive images of a 1: 1 model of the Peugeot 9X8. A model in which it can be seen as the model on which the French firm works it’s not too far from the renders and digital recreations with which this LMH was presented. Thanks to this, it has a spectacular image that has nothing to envy to the Peugeot 905 that competed in the 90s and the more recent Peugeot 908. In addition, the model is faithful to one of the brand’s design premises with this prototype, since it does not have the large rear wing that usually defines this type of car.
