After having won over science fiction fans with Westworld, Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan present the trailer for their new series, The periphery: Connection to the future. Here we introduce you to the cast and we tell you everything you need to know about this long-awaited premiere.
Synopsis
Flynne Fisher is a woman trying to put the pieces of her broken family back together. She lives in a forgotten corner of America where jobs are scarce, unless you go into illegal drug manufacturing. Flynne is smart and ambitious, but she, too, is doomed. She believes that she doesn’t have a future, but everything will change when she discovers that the future is calling her.
For his part, Wilf Netherton lives in London, more than seventy years later. The apocalypse is slowly looming over Earth, and trips to the past are simply a hobby. Thanks to Flynne’s brother Burton working on a virtual game that plans to unite both worlds, Flynne and Wilf are about to meet.
The series is based on the successful eponymous novel by William Gibson.
Cast and production crew
Chosen for the role of Flynne was Chloë Grace Moretz (kick-ass). Next to her we can find Jack Reynor (midsummer), Gary Carr (The Deuce), Eli Goree (One night in Miami), T’Nia Miller (The curse of bly manor) and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders).
Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan will serve as executive producers, and a team of science fiction experts will be behind the scenes. Vincenzo Natali (in the tall grass), Athena Wickham (Westworld) and Steven Hoban (in the tall grass) will be the producers.
“35 years ago, William Gibson invented the future. With The periphery he gives us another glimpse. The sight of him is clear, intoxicating and terrifying as ever. All of us are incredibly proud to support Vincenzo and his vision to bring Gibson’s work to the screen,” Nolan and Joy stated (via).
What can we expect from this series?
Yes The periphery: Connection to the future is as close to the book as many expect, without a doubt we could be facing one of the most terrifying futures ever seen on screen. It is a strong story that does not paint the future as we are used to seeing, with better opportunities for all. However, the ideas of the series are not so far from reality.
This declared its protagonist Chloë Grace Moretz (via):
“It deals with very realistic ideals about what we’re doing with the world. So much so that several times I wondered if we weren’t already in a dystopian future and we were just making a documentary about ourselves. It’s been fun. It’s risky, but fun. I think people are going to blow their socks off with this story. She `s complicated”.

John Joseph Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the cinema up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movies.
