Halo Infinite got off to a very strong start on Steam when it launched late last year. However, the number of Halo Infinite players has since started to decline, and is currently at an all-time low.
In an interesting turn of events, halo-infinite seems to be sharing the same fate as another FPS that was released around the same time, Battlefield 2042. This may be unexpected, as EA reportedly blamed Battlefield 2042’s poor reception on Halo Infinite, which was released around the same time. EA later debunked this claim, but it’s interesting to see that both games have seen a significant drop in player numbers.
The excellent start halo-infinite on Steam does nothing but emphasize how many players the game has lost since its release. Halo Infinite had a historical peak of players on Steam of 256,619 in November 2021, however, in the last 30 days the game has only been able to have an average of 5,763 players. This is a huge discrepancy and probably not expected after the great start of the game.
The reason for the huge player drop seems to be the result of fans getting fed up with the way 343 Industries is handling content development for halo-infinite. Fans have noted that the developer has been exceptionally slow to fix some of the game’s glaring glitches, and some fans are also upset at the lack of content the game has received since launch.
A Halo Infinite developer has responded to fan reactions by stating that the studio has had a lot of difficulties while developing new content for the game and that the company is unhappy that it is unable to meet the expectations of players and the community.
