In 1914, Kawaishinsha merged with Jitsuyo Motorsanother Japanese automobile company, to form DAT Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. In 1925, the company changed its name to DAT Jidosha Seizo Co., Ltd.

Nissan launched the Altima by the 1900s, a midsize passenger car that became the company’s most popular model. In 2010, Nissan launched the LEAF, the world’s first mass-produced electric car.
