Following the release of the successful remastered trilogy earlier this year, Mass Effect is waiting for the arrival of a new sequel Of which we know almost nothing so far, only that it was announced in a short teaser during last year’s TGA, under the message “Mass Effect will continue.”
Today, a new job offer within Bioware seems to have given us a new detail about this sequel, which is that the next Mass Effect could use the Unreal Engine as its engine.
Crysis Remastered Trilogy Confirms Release Date
The job offer specifically comments that having experience working on Unreal Engine 4 will be valued positively, which would only make sense if the team is at least considering using the Epic Games engine.
This decision would not be surprising, as it had previously been rumored that Bioware had had a problem with Mass Effect Andromeda and Dragon Age Inquisition when creating RPGs using Frostbite, the DICE engine originally devised for the Battlefield series. Well-known journalist Jeff Grubb has also previously commented that the team was considering the possibility of using the Unreal Engine in the future, but that the decision had not yet been made in a solid way.
The next Mass Effect could use Unreal Engine as its engine, instead of Frostbite
We hope that the move to the Unreal Engine, if it really happens, will allow Bioware to leave behind the problems that plagued the development of Mass Effect Andromeda.
