The new installment of the series would already be in pre-production
With the problems that DICE is having to carry out Battlefield 2042, it seems a bit frivolous to talk about a possible new installment in the series, but new reports suggest that, if there is, would again be set in the current era. What’s more, it would already be in the pre-production phase, says a well-known insider.
Through XFire, Tom Henderson assures that there is already a new Battlefield in the works and “EA is providing the necessary resources to recover the franchise“. An internal insider source speaks of having learned “valuable lessons” with the launch of Battlefield 2042. “I think we’ll be reverting a lot of the changes we made in Battlefield 2042.”
Henderson assures that the modern warfare of the current era will also be the theme of the new installment of the series and mentions that the DICE team works on “link more closely the functions of specialists with classes”both for Battlefield 2042, and for the sequel. Much of the team would have already advanced to the production of the next gameas would be usual in the industry, but there would still be an important group working on new content and other types of news.
Battlefield 2042 is expected to feature four new specialists and four seasons, at the moment they are already working on the first of the post-launch maps, Exhibition. Henderson hopes that during its life cycle it will receive “new modes, weapons, vehicles, maps and more”.
It is certainly quite surprising that there is already talk of producing a new game in the series when Battlefield 2042 has failed to meet expectations nor for the criticism of the users or their own managers. A few weeks ago EA was talking about the reception of Battlefield 2042 and, far from assuming responsibilities, he even blamed Halo Infinite for the game’s failure. In DICE they seem to be more focused and are already working on solving some of the biggest problems in the game, such as the distribution of its maps.
