The sixth model of the new range of electric cars from the German brand is a reality. The new Volkswagen ID. AERO has just been unveiled, albeit in a near-production concept format. A sedan that will fill the gap left by the Passat, with an evolved design loaded with technology, as well as a wide range, which will storm Europe in 2023.
The new electric sedan from the German brand, under development between Europe and China, has just been unveiled in the Asian giant, occupying sixth place on the scale of the 100% electric models from the Wolfsburg firm. The new Volkswagen ID. AERO debuts as a concept car but very close to series production, which will be revealed for Europe and for the United States in its final form in 2023and with serious arguments.

Light”. a trait inherited directly from the Space Vizzion Concept submitted three years ago
The Volkswagen ID. AERO opens a new chapter in electric sedans
With a completely new name, it refers to two key qualities, aerodynamics and spaciousness, highlighted by a silhouette and a very flowing roofline that yields a drag coefficient of just 0.23x. The top panel is a huge panoramic roof that stretches seamlessly from the windscreen to the rear window. The new ID. AERO, which measures almost five meters long, dispenses with conventional door handles, opting for electrically retractable ones. On the side there is also a new line baptized as “Tornado”, which extends over the shouldersoffering a flatter shape.
The ID. AERO fits well, on alloy wheels with a turbine design to displace the wind avoiding turbulence, and of nothing less than 22 inches diameter. The rear offers a more avant-garde appearance, with the pilots extended in one piece and a new luminous graphics with Matrix LED technology. The German brand has not provided views of the interior, but it has highlighted a leading level of space in its class, for five passengers, with an important technological load focused on the digitization and connectivity, equipped with wireless updates.
Worse, the most interesting lies in its entrails. The MEB platform used by all the electric vehicles of the German group now and a powerful battery, the one with the highest net capacity offered to date with 77 kWh net which, according to the measurements of the WLTP cycle, homologates nothing less than 620 kilometers of maximum autonomy with a single charge. A figure that will vary depending on the versions and configurations of one and two electric motors. The new ID. AERO will debut in the European market throughout 2023being manufactured at the plant in Emden, Germany, a global model that will also arrive in the United States.
