Toyota has renewed one of its star models. The lineup of compact models has been updated with a package of minor upgrades coming to Corolla GR Sport, Corolla Touring Sports and Corolla Sedan. New image and more technology, as well as an improvement in the hybrid system are its arguments for 2023.
The Japanese brand has given the surprise unveiling the revised range of the Toyota Corolla 2023. One of the best-selling models of the manufacturer, the compact ones, receive an extra injection to face the second part of his commercial life after serving four years since the five-door hatchback was presented at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show with an innovative design that was a true break with the previous generation.
A slight facelift that has done nothing more than reinforce this very modern style that the Corollas wear with a fresher air. The Japanese have applied a package of improvements that affects all areas and that the three body variants share. From the outset, on the exterior aesthetic side, the most equipped versions have technology LED in the dipped and highway functions adding the adaptive headlightsin addition to presenting a more striking daylight graphic signature with a wider cord. Behind there are no notable changes, beyond the pilots of the Corolla Touring Sports that are slightly distinguished with a redder tulip.
Toyota Corolla 2023 range, more connectivity and power
The bumper and grille of all three models also change, with a honeycomb mesh painted in black in the wide radiator grille that occupies the front bumper -a more notable detail in the case of the Corolla Sedan, since it was distinguished from the rest of the bodies by some horizontal slats- and with some new chrome decorative appliqués in the area of the fog lights. The improvements also come to the color palette, with the new “Juniper Blue” for the five-door and station wagon, while the sedan bets on elegance with “Midnight Teal Green”.
All three also present innovations in the interior, adopting a new 10.5-inch touch screen on the center console and adding a more advanced multimedia and infotainment system. The compacts also add a new 12.3-inch clear and readable digital instrument cluster display. These are the two most notable improvements, in addition to a new connectivity function between the vehicle and the smartphone and a revised range of driving safety assistants. The brand has also improved quality weaknesses, with new materials and upholstery more pleasing to the touch and visually.
In terms of mechanics, the Corolla 2023 maintain the current structure with the two hybrid versions available with the engines 1.8Hybrid Y 2.0Hybridalthough both have received a more powerful electric motor which, in the case of the former, has allowed the maximum power to be increased to 140 hp and in the second until 196 hp. In addition, they have a new generation lithium-ion battery, smaller and lighter but also more powerful of which Toyota has not given details. Information that, together with the prices of the new range, will be communicated in the second half of the year to start sales in early 2023.
