Jodie Whittaker’s latest adventure as a Doctor is coming up. BBC has announced that season 13 of ‘Doctor Who’ will be released on October 31, 2021, right on Halloween. The announcement, made during NYCC, has been accompanied by a new teaser trailer and the revelation that this new installment will have its own title.
Thus, the new season will be known as’Doctor Who: Flux‘in reference to the great threat that the Doctor and her companions will face. In fact, in the preview, in the form of a warning, we see in the background Mandip Gill and John Bishop like Yas and newcomer Dan Lewis.
About The Flux, we know little else beyond that it is arriving with all the adversaries of the Doctor and that it will be the “battle of our lives”. We already knew that this season was going to have a more serial character as part of the farewell to both Whittaker and Chris Chibnall on board the series:
“There were two ways you could go: just do a lot of small episodes in a room without monsters or we could throw the gauntlet and go make the biggest story we’ve ever done, we’ll go to all kinds of different places, we’ll have all kinds of characters and monsters and everything is going to be part of a greater whole. I think it’s definitely the most ambitious thing we’ve done since we’ve been on the show. “
‘Doctor Who: Flux’ will consist of six episodes and it will serve as a preview for this end of the stage, which will be consummated in 2022 through a series of three specials that will take us to the celebrations of the BBC’s centenary. After them, it will be Russell T. Davies who returns to the series as the new chief scriptwriter.
