Kal-El’s son Jon Kent confirmed to be bisexual in the pages of DC Comics Superman: Son of Kal-El
Dc comics has revealed that the character, who inherited the mantle of Superman from his father following the events of Future State, will embark on a relationship with his hacktivist friend Jay Nakamura in the fifth issue of Superman: Son of Kal-El.
On November 9, the life of Jon Kent, Earth’s Superman and son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, takes a bold new direction as announced by screenwriter Tom Taylor on the official DC Comics website.
“I have always said that everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes and I am very grateful that DC and Warner Bros. share this idea”said writer Tom Taylor. “The Superman symbol has always represented hope, truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something else. Today, more people can be seen in the most powerful superhero in comics ».
Like his father before him, Jon Kent has fallen in love with a reporter. After establishing an initial friendship with reporter Jay Nakamura, he and Jon become romantically involved in the pages of SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL No. 5 from writer Tom Taylor (DARK KNIGHTS OF STEEL) and artist John Timms (HARLEY QUINN). After a scene where Superman is mentally and physically drained from trying to save everyone he can, Jay is there to take care of the Man of Steel.
“I am incredibly honored to be working alongside Tom on the SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL series that shows Jon Kent tackling his complex modern life, while saving the world from its greatest threats, villains and threats.”said artist John Timms.
“We couldn’t be more proud to tell this important story by Tom Taylor and John Timms”said DC creative director and editor Jim Lee. “We talk a lot about the power of the DC Multiverse in our storytelling and this is another incredible example. We can have Jon Kent exploring his identity in the comics, as well as Jon Kent learning his family’s secrets on Superman & Lois television. They coexist in their own worlds and times, and our fans can enjoy both simultaneously ».
SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL No. 5 Features a main cover and inks by John Timms, colors by Gabe Eltaeb (JUSTICE LEAGUE), and lyrics by Dave Sharpe (BATGIRL). The variant covers were created by Travis Moore (NIGHTWING) and Tamra Bonvillain (WONDER WOMAN) and Inhyuk Lee (BATGIRLS).
The synopsis goes like this
Faster than destiny. As powerful as hope. Capable of lifting us all. Despite his great power, Jon Kent can’t save everyone, but that won’t stop him from trying. How much can Earth’s new Superman do before this Man of Steel bends over? And when he does, who will pounce to save Superman?
