Just a few days ago the development of a new installment of Splinter Cell by Ubisoft was leaked, once again, and although there is still nothing confirmed by the French company, some details have emerged of how the return of Sam Fisher. According to the latest rumors, the stealth proposal of the new Splinter Cell would borrow some ideas of another well-known series of the genre that has recently lived one of its golden ages, Hitman.
According to VenturaBeat’s Jeff Grubb, ahead of E3 2021, Ubisoft carried out two tests among its testers. One era of the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was not in the event in the end, while the other would have been that of a new Splinter Cell game. This test would have been only a brief tutorial of the new proposal of the series.
The surprise is that, according to Grubb, this new installment of the series would combine classic elements, with mechanics from other games of the genre, such as Hitman 2016 which served as a reboot for the IO Interactive series. Something similar could happen with the story of Sam Fisher after so many years on the reserve. Most likely it is a reboot that restart the story and modernize your playable proposal.
Grubb does not confirm that it is the same game leaked just a few days ago, as companies test many prototypes throughout the year, but it seems more than assured that there will be a new delivery of Splinter Cell in the short or medium term. We will see how Ubisoft will try to win over modern audiences after so many years of neglect of the series. During this time, he has limited himself to making collaborations of Sam Fisher or other elements of his universe with other franchises, such as Ghost Recon: Frontline, the new multiplayer experiment of the French company.
