The American company is working on two new chips that would like to occupy a gap in the 600 and 700 series of Snapdragon for next year. We are talking about the SM6375 and SM6225.
The chip shortage is not a problem for some companies, which cannot wait to slow down their development or research. It is logical, since progress does not stop and the crisis in production will one day end.
This means that those who stop now will not be able to get out alive once everything returns to normal, even though the factories are saturated and there is no real option to launch new products on the market.
Qualcomm knowsNot surprisingly, it is one of the most powerful companies in the world of processors, with innovative chips and hundreds of its own technologies.
In that sense, information That Qualcomm is in the midst of developing two new mobile processors should come as no surprise.
We talk about the Snapdragon SM6375 and Snapdragon SM6225 platforms, the first focused on the gamer public looking for cheap phones, and the second for all mid-range users who don’t need too much power, just an efficient and stable processor.
The Snapdragon SM6375, which is the more interesting of the two, It is believed that it would appear within the Snapdragon 700 series. On a technical level it has eight cores, with four of them Kryo Gold (high performance) and the other Kryo Silver (efficient ones).
The information says that Qualcomm is currently testing up to four different configurations from the same platform with different clock speeds:
- 4 Gold cores at 2.5GHz + 4 Silver cores at 2.2GHz
- 4 Gold cores at 2.3GHz + 4 Silver cores at 2.1GHz
- 4 Gold Cores 2.2 GHz + 4 Silver Cores 2.0 GHz
- 4 Gold cores at 2.1GHz + 4 Silver cores at 1.8GHz
One of the variants could move high refresh rate screens without problem (144Hz max), which the report says will go on sale as a gaming-oriented model alongside the base model.
The other platform is the Snapdragon SM6225, which would be part of the Snapdragon 600 series and could succeed the Snapdragon 665 which came out in 2019, and we already know that three years of waiting in the mobile world is many years.
The technical specifications of the SoC are not known at the moment, but they believe Qualcomm is testing the chip in a developer unit that has a 90Hz FHD + display, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage.
This suggests that the Snapdragon SM6225 would come out for smartphones of the mid and mid / low range.
Lastly, the Snapdragon SM6375 and Snapdragon SM6225 would be manufactured by TSMC despite not knowing the size of construction of these chips.
