Philips has announced the arrival in its catalog of a curious 24-inch monitor called 242B1V whose main distinguishing feature is to have a special privacy mode with which to prevent curious eyes from observing what we are seeing on the screen.
We are facing a screen based on IPS panel with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) with the wide viewing angles (178 degrees) typical of this technology that has a special button dedicated to obscure visibility from the angles so that only the image can be seen clearly if we are right in the center of the screen.
With a contrast ratio of 1000: 1 and a brightness of 350 cd/m2, which with privacy mode lowered to 180 cd / m2, the monitor has a response time of 4 ms and various technologies with which to improve image stability and reduce eyestrain.
For example, EasyRead, which allows for more comfortable text reading, LowBlue mode limits the amount of blue light emitted or FlickerFree technology to reduce flickering. It also has a sensor called LightSensor that adapts image quality to ambient light conditions and another presence sensor that reduces brightness if it does not detect users in front of the screen.
As for connectivity, a VGA port, another DVI-D (digital HDCP), a DisplayPort 1.2 and another HDMI 1.4 have been incorporated that accompany 4 USB 3.2 for peripherals and a headphone output.
Price and availability
The new Philips 242B1V monitor will go on sale at the end of June for a price of around 300 euros.
