The new Mercedes-AMG SL is already on sale in Spain, for now with two gasoline versions and with a powerful engine under the front hood. In a few months, the already presented AMG SL 43 with a four-cylinder engine and the first electrified turbo will also arrive. A roadster that, with nothing to envy its older brothers, can become a V8 in image.
A true star returns to the market, this time at the hands of the sports division of the German brand, recovering qualities of yesteryear and with important novelties that will be arriving progressively. Mercedes has already opened the order books for the new Mercedes-AMG SL in the main European countries, having prices in Spain although, for now, only with two more powerful versions.
The «SL 55» and «SL 63» are the only options currently for sale, both with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and with a design that is as sporty as it is elegant in which the main characteristic features of the style that prevails in the Mercedes model range are present. But, despite the fact that the entrails are typical of those of Mercedes-AMG and the set-up is much more dynamic, this generation recovers two typical qualities: the canvas roof and the two rear seatstwo pieces of equipment that had become extinct in recent generations.

But they are not the only novelties because, among others, the new model is much more accessible as it has a version of cfour-cylinder with a 2.0-liter engine and an electric turbo. An unprecedented technology that will arrive in a few months under the commercial name of «AMG SL 43». Mercedes has tried to retain its rawer personality, but there are obviously cosmetic differences with the V8 versions, which cost more and are more exclusive.
Natural logic, but the brand will offer future owners of the most accessible version the possibility of adding an optional package that will match the image to the V8, with the only distinction being the sound of the engine. It will be one of the options that will have to be assembled at the factory, on request, and in which the front bumper will present an specific design of the side air intakes, with a honeycomb mesh inside and fine chrome barswhile on V8s these bars will be vertical.
At the rear, one of the differences will be noticeable, although in more detail, since it focuses on the bumper, presenting the satin chrome insert that links one end to the other, conserving the spherical escapements typical of the «43» within its own trims. Because where there will be no difference is not in the mounting of the alloy wheels that, like its older brothers, will have special designs of 190, 20 and up to 21 inches in diameter. The prices of this access version will be announced in the second half of the year, mid autumnpractically at the same time as the presentation of the “AMG SL E Performance”, the top-of-the-range plug-in hybrid version, is expected.
