Land Rover continues to work at full capacity in the development process of the new variant that will become part of the Defender range. The new Land Rover Defender 130 has been hunted, once again, in broad daylight. However, this time it has been seen on the popular Nürburgring track.
The development process of new Land Rover Defender 130 keep going. The British manufacturer Land Rover is working at full capacity on the new variant that will become part of the Defender range. A long-awaited model that is called to play a leading role in a small selection of markets where this type of vehicle is remarkably popular.
Once again the new Defender 130 has been photographed in broad daylight. However, and unlike past sightings, on this occasion, the new Land Rover model has been seen on the well-known Nürburgring track. That’s right, he has already faced this demanding circuit. Therefore, these spy photos come to ratify that the project is going ahead and the different “stages” are being fulfilled.
Spy photos of the new Land Rover Defender 130
The hunted prototype sports a significant amount of camouflage. However, despite this issue, which is not trivial, there is a detail that reveals the engine that is hidden under its hood. The exhaust system with four perfectly visible outlets reveals that we are dealing with the new Defender 130 powered by a powerful 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol.
This engine is already present in the Defender range. What’s more, Land Rover offers it for the two body variants that can currently be configured. The Defender 90 and Defender 110 respectively. In both cases it develops a power of 525 hp and 625 Nm of maximum torque. A block paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a 4×4 drive system.
There are currently no reports suggesting that the V8 engine is specifically tuned for the new Defender 130 and if so offers a higher level of power. What current information does indicate is that it will also be possible to opt for gasoline and diesel engines with four and six electrified cylinders with 48-volt mild hybrid technology (MHEV).
