The development of the second generation of the Hyundai Kona continues. Hyundai continues to work on the renewal of its best-selling model. The successful SUV will be updated at the level of design, technology and mechanics. Once again, the new Kona has been hunted in broad daylight. However, these spy photos show us a lighter camouflage model.
One of the central pillars on which the Hyundai range in Europe is based will be completely renewed. The time has come for the Hyundai Kona debuts a new generation. The South Korean manufacturer has started up all the machinery with the aim of carrying out the development process of what will be the second generation of its best-selling SUV.
In recent months we have been closely following the development of the new Kona. To date, the small SUV has braved winter testing and has also been spotted numerous times in faraway and exotic South Korea. Now, it has been seen in southern Europe. The company has moved its “headquarters” to this part of the Old Continent to complete the very important summer tests.
Spy photos of the new Hyundai Kona 2024
The new generation of the Kona has been photographed in broad daylight driving on roads open to traffic. Hyundai’s signature dense camouflage continues to cover most of the test car’s exterior. However, and if we pay special attention to these snapshots, and compare them with those previously published, we will realize that the new Kona is losing camouflage.
It is the first time that the new Hyundai Kona 2024 is photographed in such light camouflage in European territory. The front wheel arches are partially exposed. The exterior rear view mirrors and the front pillars have said goodbye to camouflage. This is excellent news since the removal of camouflage confirms that the development is successfully completing stages.
It is also worth making a special mention of the grill area and the lower grill. Beneath the tarpaulins and fabrics used by the brand is still the vinyl, but little by little the definitive design is beginning to emerge. The same happens with the optical groups. Headlights that will be divided and will use LED technology. Unfortunately behind there is little news.
The commitment to the electrification of the new Hyundai Kona 2024
Currently, the Kona largely symbolizes the commitment that Hyundai has been making for sustainable mobility and, more specifically, for electrification. The mechanical offer will be made up of a selection of 48-volt mild hybrid technology (MHEV) gasoline engines and, more importantly, there will be hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and 100% electric (BEV) variants.
There will be versions with manual or automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive will continue to be the protagonist. Thanks to the commitment to electrification, there will also be models with all wheel drive. The Hyundai Kona N will survive the generational change and will continue to play the role of top-of-the-range model. The most radical, exclusive and performance option.
When will it hit the market? The debut of the new Kona is scheduled for sometime next year. It will not be until the second half of 2023 when its commercial launch takes place. So it will land in dealerships as a 2024 model.
