Lovers of interior design will recognize Kelly Wearstler. The American interior designer is one of the most recognized international figures in the sector.
Its hallmarks are far from discreet and its interiors are known for being excessive and vibrant. Its virtue is to combine like nobody else mixes, a priori impossible with very marked geometries and graphics. One of his latest works is a collaboration with The Rug Company to edit a collection of eight rugs that bear his stamp. That is, rugs that can be defined in many ways except as boring.
For his design Kelly has merged the Contemporary style with designs that are part of the history. The name of this short collection is Surreal Shifts and the result is rugs full of dynamic motifs with soft pictorial patterns.
In addition, for their presentation, The Rug Company and Kelly Weastler have used a luxurious stage. the iconic Sowden House Dating from 1926 and located in Southern California, it is a work by Frank Lloyd Wright.
With the excuse we can see the main entrance that evokes the ancient Mayan pyramids and that is an example of symmetrical and mathematical architecture. Wearstler has considered this space the ideal setting to present its new designs that despite their graphics are intended to be a call to calm.
Oriental inspiration in the Cascadia model
Reminiscent of the traditional Shan Shui painting style, cascadia is inspired by a journey of the designer throughhe Yangtze River in China. Made on a warm wool base, the silk threads appear as fine brushstrokes that form a nebula with mountain motifs. It is available in two colors, Cascadia Clay and Cascadia Fawn, both of which convey a sense of natural calm. While Cascadia Clay features reddish tones, Cascadia Fawn exhibits earth tones. Both evoke a vision of sanctuary. The metallic threads represent the sunlight behind the mountains.
As its name refers, the Wave length model is inspired by the optical fluidity of a 3D graph. Woven on a soft wool background, the motif is printed on silk, forming a distorted wave effect.
Available in two colours, Wavelength Rust features bronze hues against a classic neutral background, while Wavelength Marine is in soothing shades of blue.
Featuring a bold geometric pattern in vibrant colours, District is a manifestation of Wearstler’s creative flair. Inspired by the cover of his book titled Evacative Style, the angular shapes of the print form an entity of extreme refinement. The meticulous color coordination of this model is aimed at reproducing the painterly effect of the original artwork with a layered effect. The soft tones of the District Silt model contrast with gold and black accents. District Spruce has a fresh character in greens and silvers.
Avant is an adaptation of the classic Wearstler print. A design of scratches with fractures, whose silhouettes have been made of silk thread on a neutral wool background. This model is rich in textures and depth. This rug is also available in a unique shape that follows the contour of its pattern.
