One of the most anticipated models, despite the fact that it will only be suitable for the wealthiest pockets. The new BMW i7 has been uncovered from all camouflage and has appeared in perfect magazine condition after the different leaks. A truly luxurious electric car that will not let its rivals escape thanks to advanced technology.
Hundreds of spy photos, if not thousands, of a model that practically the most it has allowed us to see is part of its front and rear headlights, but little else. The German brand has passed the entire testing program of the new BMW i7 2022 without disheveled, and without uncovering, letting see what has interested, leaking in the hours prior to a world debut that we have just followed live, and in which a zero-emission luxury saloon has been unveiled.
The new BMW i7 is the brand’s second model to be conceived on a new multi-energy platform of the Bavarians. The one known as “CLAR We” is a propulsion platform that allows models to be conceived with this common denominator and regardless of whether it is traditional combustion, PHEV or electric. An architecture that it also shares with the new generation of the 7 Series, including the exterior and interior design, and also practically the measureswhich you can see below.

The design of the BMW i7, an electric sedan with genes from the E65
Those from Munich have chosen to distinguish the three models that make up the luxury segment of the brand, with an avant-garde design. The BMW stylists have again gone off on a tangent as they did with the large, narrower vertical grille, although they have now chosen to give it a greater volume to the two ovoids sporting a letter “i”, together with unique optical groups. Those of the daytime running lights and turning lights are located at the top, made up of 14 LEDs in each headlight and with Swarovski crystals, although the edge of the grill also lights up.
The lower ones, with «Matrix LED» technology, they are integrated in the front, going very unnoticed. This has been the great objective of the designers to give the whole a more sophisticated look. But sportiness also plays an essential role, wearing imposing alloy wheels from 19 to 22 inches in diameter. The side of the new BMW i7 is the same as the also new 7 Series, with a new interpretation of the Hofmeister crease on the rear window. Be careful, because the back is the one that almost attracts the most attention. First because of the iX style riders and second because now hides the license plate hidden in the bumper.
Inside, the new i7 also boasts a superb level of luxury. The dashboard features the large curved screen, with 12.3 inches in the instrumentation area and 14.9 inches in the infotainment system equipped with the version 8.0 of the “iDrive” operating system. The steering wheel has the lower part of the arch flattened, the transmission tunnel is practically free of buttons and the one that remains is sensitive to the touch. The i7 is a luxury electric with automatic opening and closing doors, a large-area panoramic roof and a rear entertainment system that is unique in the world. The “Theatre Screen” has a 31.3-inch screen.
The BMW i7 is for real first class travel
Technically, the new i7 joins the entire electric offer with a new sadaptive air suspension as standard in all versions, and with a system of active steering on the rear wheels, which turn a maximum of 3.5º in the same direction as the front ones or in reverse to improve the line or maneuvers. The German brand has confirmed the commercial launch with one of the most powerful versions of the range, the «xDrive60». Two electric motors, the front one with 258 CV and the rear one with 313 CV, adding a total maximum power of 544 hp.
A real beast that will offer some real performance órdago, and has a two-speed automatic transmission, operating without driver intervention. One in each electrical assembly located on each axis, a configuration that is associated with a powerful battery with a net capacity of 101.7 kWh, rechargeable with a power of 195 kW. The German brand has also confirmed that it will launch a top of the range, as we have anticipated, under the trade name of i7 M70 xDrive, which will arrive in 2023. The market launch of the new i7 will be in November 2022.
