The “last seen” and “online” information indicates the last time a person used WhatsApp or if they are online. When someone is online, that person’s WhatsApp is open in the foreground and connected to the Internet. However, this does not mean that your message has been read.
The “last seen” information shows the time the person used WhatsApp for the “last time”, as detailed in the app’s blog. You can control who can see your “latest” information and online information in your privacy settings.
You may only be able to see someone’s “online” or “last seen” information if you’ve chatted with them on WhatsApp before, or if they’ve added your phone number to their contacts.
How to control this?
You can control who can see your “last seen” or “online” information in WhatsApp’s privacy settings. Look how:
- Cell phones with Android system: Open WhatsApp, touch More Options > Settings > Account > Privacy.
- With iOS: open the WhatsApp app go to Settings > Account > Privacy.
- Computer (PC and Browser): Click more options > Settings > Privacy.
The new and simple WhatsApp trick to be ‘invisible’ in the messaging app
There are a few reasons why you cannot view a person’s “last seen” and “online” visa information:
- The person was able to set that information to not be seen in their privacy options.
- You may have set your own options to not show your statuses: if you don’t share them, you won’t be able to see other users’ information either.
- The person may have it blocked.
- You have never conversed with that person before.
- That person has not saved their phone number in the phone book.
Also, according to the information, other users will still be able to see when you are typing in the conversation.
