In great detail, the 2024 BMW M135i prototype has been caught parked somewhere near the Munich headquarters. Camouflaged but sporting the sportiest image that the compact will offer in just over a year and a half. The top of the range of the new BMW 1 Series will once again rely on a powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
The Bavarian firm has a fleet of prototypes of the new BMW 1 Series 2024, different versions that are being tested around the Munich headquarters, including also the top of the range. Once again, the manufacturer will present a M135i xDrive that is being developed practically in parallel to the conventional versions, and of which we see a couple of prototypes again.
The spy photos They show one of the test units parked, which has been used by our photographers to achieve some interesting snapshots from all angles. Camouflage is more than abundant, so it is hardly visible the shape of the headlights, finer that of the Series 1 currently on sale. The double ovoid grille, and the large air intakes that occupy the front bumper, are found behind the metallic meshes, hiding the real design, although the upper grille will offer a flatter and more integrated design.

The alloy wheels with the spokes in spokes design reveal large calipers -they will be blue in the series production model and visible in a few months as development progresses- and some perforated brake discs, a configuration not available on the M135i current. The marked side skirts are also clearly visible, as is a more aggressive rear with four exhausts grouped in two pairs. Unlike the purer M’s, these terminals are located at the ends of the bumper, rather than in a more central position.
A revised BMW M135i that will have a more modern image, both outside and inside, a part that we have also seen recently with a more elaborate dashboard and to match. The 1 Series with the “M Performance” seal will also offer a more refined interior atmosphere, with sports front seats, the large horizontal screen with the iDrive 8 infotainment system and a host of equipment and driving assistance technologies.
BMW will launch the new compact front-wheel drive in spring 2024, with a preview in fall 2023, delaying the arrival of this sports version for a few months. Under the hood, the brand will once again rely on the powerful engine of four cylinders and 2.0 liters Twin Power Turbo with a maximum power in the orbit of 330 CV. traction total xDrive and automatic gearbox Eight-speed sports will be the only possible form of transmission, without the possibility of manual engagement.
