The return of the Mitsubishi ASX is closer than you think. The three-diamond brand is preparing the European debut of a new member in its short range of products, an unprecedented SUV with which it will compete in the crowded B-segment with a well-known commercial name. The Japanese brand has already set a date for after the summer.
The Mitsubishi ASX said goodbye recently. At the end of last year we knew the news that what was the compact SUV disappeared from the market swallowed by the Eclipse Cross and also because of the long uphill that he faced against the competition, weighed down by the important weight of the years that he accumulated behind him. And as we announced, the brand has not given up this commercial name in any way, planning to recover it with a new model.
Mitsubishi is missing models in key segments, a situation that is very close to being solved, because the great first novelty for the European market is getting closer. The new Mitsubishi ASX will be one more competitor that adds to the extreme rivalry that is perceived in the category of B SUV with a more than wide offer, standing out for a new design that inherits the new traits implanted in the Outlander and with fine LED headlights.
The new Mitsubishi ASX, more competition among B-SUVs
Although it won’t be that new at all because, in reality, the Renault Captur is the aesthetic base of this new Japanese, so only the front and back will adopt the style of the three diamonds brand. Nothing is known about the interior, but everything indicates that the French influence, and specifically the Rombo brand, will lay the basis for the interior design, in which once again the digitization and connectivity will be real keys.
The European division of Mitsubishi has also confirmed the range of engines for this important model which, naturally, will be offered with a variety practically adapted to all tastes and pockets. The offer includes engines of gasoline and hybrids, one self-rechargeable and the other plug-in, two mechanical options that completely rule out diesels. The range, of three and four cylinders, moves in a fork of between 91 and 160 CV, with a maximum autonomy of up to 50 kilometers in electric mode.
The new Mitsubishi ASX will be one of the great novelties of the Paris Motor Show, which will reopen its doors after being closed since the last edition held in 2018. The Japanese SUV will be presented on September 20. It will be manufactured in Spain and will go on sale in spring 2023.
