These are just some of the questions posed by the new Mexican film that promises to captivate the public with its story full of courage, hope, and love for Mexico. Here’s the trailer, the cast, and everything you need to know about the mighty victory.
Synopsis
In 1936, when the local mine closes and the town’s future is threatened, Durán, a young engineer, must choose between giving up his dreams and the love of his life or embarking on the adventure of building a steam train with the help of of an unusual group of settlers. Nothing is impossible for them with a little Mexican ingenuity.
The cast
Like a good Mexican movie, the mighty victory includes a cast full of leading men. So we can find Damián Alcázar, Luis Felipe Tovar, Joaquín Cosío, Roberto Sosa, Eduardo España, Edgar Vivar, Gerardo Oñate and Lorena de la Torre.
The direction is in charge of Raul Ramon (Flying low), who presented the film at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in 2021. There it won the Audience Award. She also received recognition as Best International Film at the International Film Festival in Prague. Gerardo Oñate commented on the work of the director in an interview for Fuera de foco:
“I was very clear about what was going to happen, at what moment, from what angle and on what day of shooting. There was an incredible level of precision to be able to get the project out on the agreed dates and with the budget that was available”.
Why is the tape worth watching?
On this occasion, we are facing an unconventional film within the Mexican film industry. It is not a romantic comedy, nor a horror story. The director Raúl Ramón presents us with a drama with touches of hope and the fight for dreams. In addition, the setting in 1936 will allow us to know a Mexico not very portrayed in contemporary cinema.
Due to its theme, ambition and context, the mighty victory it was planned for nearly a decade. However, the director affirms that the long effort is reflected on the screen, with a production that does not ask for anything from other foreign products. Here his words for UDGTV.
“I wrote this film ten years ago, it was a very beautiful process like all Mexican cinema. Cinema in general was full of obstacles, the main one I think is financing, (The Powerful Victoria) is a very ambitious film from the point of view of production”.

The film is available on more than 1,000 screens across the country as of this November 24, 2022. Its premiere is carried out by Cinépolis Distribución.
