Mercedes’ new luxury electric models, the EQS and EQE, will soon debut an important novelty that will make them more attractive to customers. An interesting more powerful charger that will significantly reduce charging times, especially in long-range versions.

The two electric models have an on-board charger with a maximum power of 11 kW, which allows connection to a fast charging point with a charging speed of up to 170 kW in direct current or 22 kW with alternating current. In the best case, the first, the time needed for a full charge requires between eight and ten hours in the units of the EQE and EQS, respectively, equipped with the most powerful batteries with capacities usable net of 90.56 and 107.6 kWh.
More power and less charging time in the Mercedes EQS and EQE
Too long for the two luxury electrics, so the star brand will offer a new optional on-board charger that doubles the power, up to 22 kW with direct current. The maximum charging speed at fast charging points will be increased significantly, passing from 170 kW to 210 kW with direct current.
This increase translates into a significant reduction in charging times which, to achieve maximum capacity with alternating current, will require between four and five hours, depending on the capacity of the equipped battery and the model. To give you an idea, the current charger allows you to recharge energy for 180 kilometers in just 15 minutes. With the new 22 kW charger recover up to 230 kilometers in the same time when connected to a fast charging point.
Even at 10 to 80% load, the system will only need a little more than 30 minutes to recharge the battery of the four luxury electric models. An equipment that must be requested at the time of configuration and purchase, since it will only be assembled at the factory, and which is expected to debut aboard the new Mercedes EQE SUV that will debut in mid-October.
