It is not called “death by squats” just because. The Maximus method for huge legs is an evolutionarily slow but very effective routine. You will do it?
One of my favorite training formats is the “death by” format, says Bobby Maximus, coach and author of Maximus Body. Although a squat workout is easy to perform, its intensity will wipe you out.
Maximus’ routine to finish off the legs is proof that you don’t need weights to achieve a brutal workout.
The goal with this format is quantity. As the workout progresses, you will need to do more repetitions and you will have less rest. While you are running out of breath, you will begin to feel pumping in the lower extremities that you would never have imagined, with much less impact on your joints.

INSTRUCTIONS
- Start a stopwatch and squat for the first minute, rest the time left after doing the squat.
- Perform two squats during the second minute, rest the time that remains.
- Then three squats during the third minute and rest the remaining time.
- Keep it up, adding a repetition every minute.
- Training ends when you cannot do the total number of repetitions indicated for the minute you are in.
