What is it about?
Boogeyman: The Man with the Bag tells the story of high school student Sadie Harper, and her younger sister, Sawyer. Both are getting over the recent death of her mother and don’t get much attention from her, Will, a therapist dealing with her own grief. When a desperate patient shows up unexpectedly at his home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds off the suffering of its victims.
Cast and production crew
The film stars Sophie Thatcher (yellowstone), Chris Messina (Birds of prey), Vivien Lyra Blair (Obi Wan Kenobi), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy) and David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad).
Rob Savage was in charge of directing this story, while the script was carried out by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, (responsible for the successful a place in silence), and Mark Heyman (the black swan). The story is based on the short story of the same name written by Stephen King in 1973.
Why is it worth giving it a try?
The production of Boogeyman: The Man with the Bag started a few years ago, however, the project was put on hold due to the pandemic and other factors. When 20th Century Studios revived the project, the tape was ordered to go directly to Hulu. Nevertheless, the results of the first test screenings indicated that the studio has a gem on its hands. Therefore, it was decided to give it a chance to reach the big screen. Something similar happened with Smilewhich became a critical and commercial success.
Although Stephen King is usually very critical of adaptations of his stories, the author has expressed his support for this version of his short story. This he commented he for the podcast kingcast:
“I’ve read the script for Boogyeman: The Boogeyman, and it’s a wonderful one. The things they added to the story are not just an extender. They’re pretty good. So, that’s kind of interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with the movie.”
In accordance with The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen King was one of the people who was able to see the film last December. His reaction was completely positive.
When it premieres Boogeyman: The Man with the Bag?
The film will hit theaters in the United States on June 2. At the moment, it is unknown when it will premiere in Mexico.
