Any fan’s dream Knights of the Zodiac is to have your own armor, and Jonathan López, a Peruvian industrial engineer, made it happen. He built, using cardboard, thin leatherette and lights, both his armor and that of his young son, Angelo.
The result, without a doubt, is spectacular.
López, a fan of the anime that conquered Latin America since the early 1990s, was interviewed by the trome portal, from Peru.
There he explained that it took three weeks to make both armors. “First I made the one for my little boy, a Divine Swan from The Knights of the Zodiac. I wore it to cosplay contests, but he was a bit intimidated by people.”
“As I said that I had made the suit, I was recommended to make armor for myself, so I could accompany Angelo and give him more confidence.”
Thus, Jonathan created his own armor, Aldebaran de Taurus, golden knight.
How did this engineer learn to build any Knights of the Zodiac armor?
The Peruvian industrial engineer learned to build the armor of The Knights of the Zodiac by watching tutorials on the Internet.
When Angelo was born, Jonathan wanted to dress him up as Goku for his Dragon Ball party, but he couldn’t find the character’s wig. He made it out of paper, based on research on the Internet.
He would then make other characters, such as pokemons and digimons, learning more and more about the technique.
“Until I decided to make life-size characters, like mine and my son’s suit. For six months I have been making them to order, not only here in Peru: I have also sent them to Mexico and Bolivia”, said Jonathan López.
Father and son won a cosplay contest, where they received a thousand soles (approximately 250 dollars) for their costumes.
López’s work with the armor can be seen on the Instagram account ArtPro World, also present on Facebook. Meanwhile, on TikTok (artpro_papercraft) makes live broadcasts.
