BMW iX and Mercedes EQS SUV. Two new generation electric SUVs that are already on sale in Spain. Two luxury models conceived to travel. In theory, two rivals that will compete for the Premium market. However, those of the star do not consider the Munich as a direct rival, and we will tell you why.
The BMW iX It is the electric SUV of the Bavarians. The Munich firm has been marketing this luxury standard since the end of last year, practically alone in its category until almost the end of the year when the new Mercedes EQS SUV make an appearance. In theory, they are two direct rivals, but those responsible for the star’s brand do not fear at all the competition that its eternal rival brand may cause.
The reality is that some brands like BMW are designing their new zero-emission models so that fit between two combustion models, which will allow the manufacturer to say goodbye to the voluminous product ranges currently found in catalogs when it becomes an electrical brand. A role that the Stuttgart firm is also following, which aims much higher with its seventh model of the new range of electric cars by Mercedes EQ. But why is the BMW iX not a rival to the Mercedes EQS SUV?
The BMW iX is a direct rival of the new Mercedes EQE SUV
Although in terms of power and performance, the two electric SUVs are perfectly comparable and can be considered rivals, there are a key factor which supports Mercedes’ argument: measures, with a big difference between one and the other model, as you can see in the detailed dimension table below. And that, also counting on the fact that the new EQS SUV is a model of seven seats, compared to five in the iXin which there is no possibility of including a third row of seats.
Measures officially approved by the manufacturers

The luxurious British SUV is considered the main competitor, although not to detract from the BMW iX, the star brand has already pointed out a rival to beat: the imminent, and new Mercedes EQE.
