The IONIQ 5 N will have almost 600 hp, four-wheel drive, active suspension and unparalleled performance within the brand. Hyundai wants to give European manufacturers a pulse. It will hit the market in 2023 and now we reveal unpublished details.
The arrival of the most performance variant of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is being asked for. The normal versions of this 100% electric have seduced new customers who wanted to make a qualitative leap towards zero-emission mobility. It must be recognized that Hyundai is doing well, from making models with an adjusted value for money, to improving each product it launches.
Indeed, its N division has brought a bit of spice to the sporty street car segment with its N range, which currently stretches from the i20N to the Kona compact SUV. Well, it’s about time we got an IONIQ 5 N, one that pushes its modular E-GMP platform to the limit.
Since September 2021 we have been observing IONIQ 5 prototypes with certain details that let us see that the brand is working on a more radical version, although it was not until July 15, 2022 when the sports division recognized at a world conference that “He’s looking to the future.” Something that was already evident.
Well, these spy photos once again show a prototype of the IONIQ 5 with certain changes ahead of us details of the future variant Nwhich apart from performance will be distinguished by changes in its exterior appearance and in certain interior elements.
More powerful and striking exterior
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, will bring us a color palette with exclusive shadesa blue tone called “Performance blue” or “Intense blue”, as well as a reddish tone that is not confirmed at the moment.
The body color will contrast with some elements such as lower lips, footrests or diffusers, with accent lines that will be red or black depending on the exterior color. This is because it will have different details that will visually differentiate it from the “regular” versions.
The new spy photos suggest that the prototype is equipped with the definitive N bumper and we can see how it will be more voluminous, with a more generous central air intake and two channels at the ends of the front bumper.
It will equip exclusive design wheels in different sizes according to markets with an eye on high-performance brake cooling, something noticeable in the images that accompany this article, although it is not the only detail that is obvious.
At the rear, the attention is drawn to the addition of a rear spoiler similar to that of the i30 N Performance, an aerodynamic element that improves the stability of the model at high speed, because beware, running is going to run a lot.
Interior with sporty atmosphere
The interior will be covered with new dark-toned materials where the alcantara will take on a special role and will be finished off with blue stitching and an “N” logo on the upper part of some semi-backet style sports seatssomething that the conventional version cannot equip.
The multimedia system will display new graphics and will have a performance specific menu N, where you configure model parameters and observe telemetry data in real time. It is not confirmed but it is expected that the model offers the “N grin” functionality, which by means of a button activates a sports mode that for 20 seconds can squeeze the power of the model to the maximum.
Top notch performance
The Hyundai i30 N will equip an all-wheel drive system that will homologate a maximum power close to 600 hp. It will feed on a powerful battery with a net capacity of 77.4 kWh, but with a range that will exceed 400 km. It is clear that this version has prioritized performance over efficiency and for this reason it will be able to go from zero to 100 in about 3.5 seconds. Its maximum speed will be greater than 250 km/h.
It will equip a limited slip differential and the suspension will be electronically controlled to guarantee the adherence of its wheels. Since it uses an 800-volt architecture, it will be able to use fast chargers up to 250 kW that will charge your battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
On a technical level, the model lives up to the rest of the flagships of European manufacturers and the truth is that it is a model that is generating a lot of expectation. Soon you will have news.
