When it comes to hiring an Internet provider, it is necessary to take into account different factors such as budget, speed and behavior with online and streaming services.
Speaking of streaming services, Netflix has a penetration of 80% in the Latin American market, as confirmed by eMarketer a few days ago, which invites us to assume that for Mexican users it is important to know which internet provider is the one with quality optimized for that platform.
In this regard, it is necessary to point out that Totalplay remained for more than three years as number one in the Netflix Speed Index ranking in Mexico, but that title has passed into the hands of another provider.
According to an emailed statement, izzi’s broadband internet service since October 2020 was placed in the first place of that same ranking, focused on measuring which providers in the world offer a high-quality streaming experience during prime time.
It should be noted that this index is not a measure of the general performance of all the services and data that travel through the provider’s network and that it only focuses on the performance in the prime time of this particular streaming service, a situation that Netflix itself clarifies.
To check the data provided by izzi, we went directly to the index and selected Mexico.
What we obtained is that, in effect, the first place belongs to izzi, with an average speed of 3.6 Mbps. In second place are Megacable, Telecable, Telmex Infinitum and Totalplay, all with a mark of 3.4. And third is Telmex DSL, with an average of 3.0.
It is worth remembering that izzi was involved in controversy recently after Axtel users were migrated to it, something that we discussed in detail previously.
