As expected, there are already reactions to the announcement of the remake of Harry Potter in series format for HBO. Fans of the magical world have always been very vocal when it comes to expressing their opinion regarding the decisions that are made for the franchise, and this time, that rule was fulfilled again.
The funny thing is that now it was not only the fans who spoke out against the possible realization of the project, but the general public is not happy. It has only been a day since the information about David Zaslav’s plan to adapt JK Rowling’s books for the small screen leaked and most of the voices on the internet are already saying: “I am not letting my guard down”.
Next, we leave you the opinions of various users of the network:
Please, just leave old movies, cartoons, books alone.
NO ONE ASKED FOR HARRY POTTER REBOOT. NOT ONE. 😭

“Wingardium absolutely not, dammit*”.
In addition to the fact that there were many comments that it was too early to readapt the main stories of the books, most of the reactions to the announcement of the remake of Harry Potter addressed Rowling’s involvement in the production. The news that there will be a series was accompanied by the revelation that the British author will closely monitor what happens in the episodes.
It must be remembered that the public perception of the writer is not very good since several of her comments that are perceived as transphobic came to light. However, it seems that Zaslav wants to continue working with her.
This is what the internet thinks, starting with the forceful tweet of Zoë Rose Bryant, film critic for Next Best Picture and Film Independentwho is also an activist for the trans community:
Setting aside how absurdly unnecessary a HARRY POTTER reboot is in the first place, I’d just rather we not continue to give billions to a woman who has made it her life mission to invalidate the existence of trans women & endanger our lives with her unrelentingly hateful rhetoric

“Leaving aside how absurdly unnecessary a reboot of HARRY POTTER First of all, I would prefer that we not continue to give billions to a woman who has made it her mission to invalidate the existence of trans women and endanger our lives with her relentless rhetoric of hate. i liked it too HARRY POTTER when I was a child and then I grew up and now its creator is actively contributing to a culture that wants me dead, so…”

1) Fantastic Beasts movies cant continue.
2) The original actors don’t want to be involved with JKR, so can’t do Cursed Child
3) Recast icons
4) Not the Marauders series everyone wants
5) Involves bigot JK Rowling, who recently doubled down on Nazi apologia. It’s honestly funny. https://t.co/XeCVuOSg2N

5) It involves the intolerant JK Rowling, who recently doubled down on her apology for Nazism.
It’s honestly funny.”
For her part, Lissete Lanuza Sáenz, from CBRsaid this:
A few years ago this would have been a dream. Now it’s a slap in the face. JKR has destroyed everything that was special about Harry Potter and there’s no universe in which I will support anything that gives a literal villain like her money or recognition. https://t.co/UJIxzjZwwF

Ashton Pittman, editor of Mississippi Free PressHe was also upset, asserting this:
I really wanted this 10 years ago. Now, I just want everyone to stop producing anything that puts money in JK Rowling’s pockets.
Daniel Radcliffe was an excellent Harry Potter (and is a true LGBTQ ally).
Rowling ruined the IP with her anti-trans hate. Just let the IP die. https://t.co/bJAyWoA9fT
