Today, time management has changed a bit with the arrival of the pandemic. However, I think it is worth pausing and reflecting on how we are organizing ourselves and if we actually organize our time based on our priorities.
The arrival of a pandemic added to work at home; It has given us a false reality of quality of time invested both at work and with our family.
Surely at the beginning it happened to them that they saw themselves working more hours than normal and sometimes even on weekends, indeed that happened and more so in the marketing, communication and public relations teams due to the nature of our role. Read this data according to The Wellness and Productivity Project. “41% of Mexicans who work from home due to the contingency caused by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), declared that they work longer hours and stay connected longer to attend to professional matters, according to the survey ‘COVID-19 and Home Office ‘.
It would seem like great news since this could mean that we are more productive but this is not always the case, however, working more hours a day has had an impact on our mental health and the proper use of our schedule.
Time management through the years has been the key for many successful professionals who are very clear in defining their priorities. There is a phrase that has a lot to do with the topic “There is a lot of time, even if we are busy, we have time for what matters and when we focus on what matters, we can build the lives we want in the time we have”. do you think?
Many would say to me is that I don’t have time, believe me if there is time it is only to propose it and we will have time.
Having well defined our priorities both in personal life and in professional life, then you can create such a varied agenda that you can even have time for what “you did not have time before” seems like a tongue twister but it is a reality.
Some tips or recommendations that I give you for time management and that personally have worked for me.
1.- Stay in the present moment, without thinking about the result of the activity you are carrying out. This helps so that we do not have thoughts of uncertainty and we leave the task for this reason.
2.- Take action, don’t procrastinate. (Priorities of your life) is not a matter of laziness, but of managing emotions. Being in contact with our emotions is a key part of putting ourselves into action and it is something that must be worked on by knowing ourselves inwardly.
3.- Schedule times for priorities and not postpone decisions. How many times do we say I want to exercise because my health is one of my priorities and we never do it because we do not schedule it and we do not think that we have to do it even if it gives us laziness.
I end with this famous phrase by Charles Darwin “A man who allows himself to waste an hour of his time, has not discovered the value of life”
Time is a choice … happy Thursday.
