After days of searching for the submersible that disappeared while exploring the remains of the Titanic for tourist purposes, its crew members were finally declared dead, allegedly due to a “catastrophic implosion” caused by a system failure.
The United States Coast Guard confirmed that all five people aboard the submersible, known as the “Titan” died instantly. One day before, the discovery of the tail cone and other remains of the missing submersible had been reported. about 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic, which sits about 13,000 feet deep in the North Atlantic Ocean.
“The debris is consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel,” US Coast Guard Rear Admiral John Mauger told reporters.
ocean gate published an official statement regretting the death of the crew, including that of the company CEO, Stockton Rush.
“We now believe our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and her son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly died. These men were true explorers who shared a clear spirit of adventure, and a deep passion for exploring and protecting the world’s oceans. Our hearts go out to these five souls and each member of their families during this tragic time. We are sorry for the loss of life and the joy they brought to everyone they knew,” reads part of the statement issued by Ocean Gate.
As the hours go by, the success stories of each of the crew have emerged, letting us see that their excessive passion for the sunken ship as well as exploring in inhospitable corners was what led them to accept the risks.
Their relatives have also come out to talk about them and the days of terror they lived through without knowing their whereabouts. And while the scandal broke out after it was reported that the businessman’s stepson Hamish Hardings I was at a concert while the tragedy was taking place, his youngest son had an account dedicated to all his accomplishments.
Younger son of a victim of the Titan admired him deeply
In videos and photographs that are now circulating on social networks, one of the businessman’s sons can be seen repeatedly saying how much he admires him.
“My dad going down into the depths is inspiring. You can see your dad having adventures, but it’s also a bit worrying because you know your dad is at the bottom of the ocean, ”the little boy is heard in a video of one of his father’s pre-Titan explorations.
“So grateful to have been there when he landed back. I’m so proud of the crew and my dad,” read an Instagram post after a Hardings space mission..
Hamish had two children with his wife Linda: Rory and Giles, whom he instilled in from a very young age. passion for science and adventure.
The businessman was also British pilot, explorer, adventurer and space tourist based in the United Arab Emirates. He was the founder of Action Group and was Chairman of Action Aviation, an international aircraft brokerage company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Hamish constantly shared photos with his children through social media. In July 2021, Harding uploaded a photo of himself and his son Giles in the cockpit of a plane, which she captioned, “#TBT for fun times.”
Hamish Harding’s family has spoken out saying that ocean gate it took “too long” to raise the alarm and should have reported the problems at least eight hours before.
Hamish’s cousin, Kathleen Cosnett, criticized the company suggesting they could have acted as early as 9:45am local time (2:45pm BST). when the Titan lost contact with the surface ship. “It is very scary.
