The Government of Mexico City announced the upcoming opening of the Indigenous Cultural Centerwhich will be located at the Garibaldi Square, one of the most traditional in the capital. According to the statement, it had an investment of 16 million 900 thousand pesos. Will have 110 points of sale so that native peoples can trade handicrafts, food and other products.
The Indigenous Cultural Center will have 2,000 square meters, distributed over four floors. It is expected to be completed by mid-January 2023.
“It is a building that we received from the Historical Center Trust since before we arrived and it was finished during our administration. It was going to be given to a single organization and we managed to have a part of the property go to that organization, but that the other floors could be distributed among the different resident indigenous communities that are in Mexico City.”

In a video, the head of government reported that the highest quality of handicrafts will be sought, with resident and itinerant communities.
With the objective of benefiting the places of origin and protecting the cultural heritage of the peoples, a link will be made through the program Original of the federal Ministry of Culture.
The president also announced that near the new Indigenous Cultural Center there will be a building for indigenous people that is part of the comprehensive project to support indigenous peoples residing in Mexico City.
