Compared to the 4G network, the future of 5G seems to be on the right track, as it has maintained a much faster pace of adoption around the world.
According to information published in the report The Ericsson Mobility Reportit is expected that, for this year, the barrier of 1,000 million subscriptions to 5G will be overcome.
In addition, as indicated by said document, the growth of the 5G network will be a constant, at least, by the year 2027, for which it is estimated that the number of global subscriptions could even approach 4,400 million.
In this sense, the definitive takeoff of 5G will take place, therefore, over the next five years; however, the distribution of 5G users by region is expected to be very uneven, as can be seen in the graph above.
And it is that, of the more than 1,200 million mobile subscriptions to 5G networks planned for 2022, most of them -897 million- would be based in Asia-Pacific; North America (not including Mexico) anticipates 163 million subscriptions; in Europe a figure of 81 million is estimated; and Latin America would have approximately 35 million.
Let us remember that the 5G network is a technology designed for the Internet of Things (IoT), since its enormous possibilities make it useful not only for mobile phones, but also to provide connectivity to a large number of devices.
Nowadays, in an increasingly connected society, users need to be aware of everything that happens and, in this sense, mobile applications have served as a way to connect us with the whole world.
According to data from the Digital 2022 report by We Are Social and Hootsuite, the number of internet users in the world reached 4.95 billion people, which represents 62.5% of the world population (7.91 billion people).
