Although there is an alarming lack of news about Hangar 13, rumors suggest that the Californian studio is going through difficult times. One more proof of this has come today. And it is that the founder of Hangar 13 has left the company. This is Haden Blackman, who created the company in 2014 as a subsidiary of 2K Games, a condition that those responsible for Mafia 3 or the remasterings of the first two installments of the Mafia saga still hold. It has been precisely 2K that has issued an open letter of thanks to Blackman for his work over the years.
“We are grateful for Haden’s leadership in establishing Hangar 13, building and uniting teams in Novato, Brighton and the Czech Republic, and launching multiple Mafia games and collections that define the study. What Haden helped build will continue and grow for years to come. We support all our employees in pursuit of your passions and we can only wish him the best for him in what is to come”, 2K Games has pointed out in a few words shared by the GamesIndustry portal.
Take-Two would have canceled the new Hangar 13 video game
After the poor reception of Mafia 3 in 2016, a few months ago we learned that Hangar 13 had been working on another video game that had the code name Volt and which, according to Jason Schreier, was canceled by 2K Games. It was a multiplayer superhero title that mixed elements of Saints Row and HP Lovecraft mythology. Since then nothing has been heard of the possible projects that Hangar 13 may have underway. What is certain is that the founder and leader of the study Haden Blackman will no longer be part of them.
