In the early hours of July 3rd, the first convoy made up of four carriages of the Mayan Train left the Alstom Mexico plant in Ciudad Sahagún, Hidalgo, bound for the city of Cancún, Quintana Roo; As reported by Javier May, responsible for the project and director of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur), that same day, at the morning conference at the National Palace.
It should be noted that according to the official, the wagons have high quality and safety standards; They will also be assembled in Quintana Roo to later start with static tests. Later, in August, rolling tests will begin on a part of the road that connects Cancún with the cities of Valladolid and Mérida.
Finally, May endorsed the commitment to inaugurate the Mayan Train in December of this year and according to information from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, in March the project registered an advance of almost 59%.

It is known that the unit that goes to Cancun is of the standard type, with the capacity to transport 230 passengers. In addition, according to Maite Ramos, director of Alstom Mexico, who was also present at the morning conference at the National Palace, the entire production line for the wagons was carried out with Mexican labor and most of the pieces are also of national.
Likewise, Ramos informed that this is the first of 44 trains being built for the Mayan Train and that another two trains will be sent to the southeast in August; 13 more in December and the rest next year.
