No need to wait for Apple to launch an iPhone with a USB C port, a user has made this a reality by modifying his iPhone X and integrating this connection port.
Apple recently launched its new smartphones intended to compete with the high-end Android. The iPhone 13 family has four members, all of them with interesting characteristics and some absences.
The main absence is that, for yet another year, Apple has avoided mounting the USB C port on its flagship devices. And, is that, The crusade that the Cupertino people have against this port is somewhat ridiculous considering that they have teams that do integrate it.
The company’s new iPads arrive with this port, while mobile devices still lack this port. Of course, it is not necessary to imagine what an iPhone would be like with USB C port, a user has made it happen.
And, although it is not a next-generation iPhone, it is quite interesting to see how with some skill and knowledge you can integrate a USB C port into an iPhone X. The name of the person who has done it is Pillonel.
What he says is that he has spent several months with the project since he has worked on it in his spare time. The process he describes has had several phases, in the first what he did was create a prototype to see the sizes first-hand.
This prototype made him realize that the module was too large to function properly. After several attempts and improving the integration, he managed to create a much more functional model.
Another step he had to take was creating a flexible PCB small enough to fit inside the iPhone and work with Apple’s priority connector, C94. After this, what was left was to assemble everything.
When disassembling the classic iPhone connector and installing your own made sure everything was working properly. The USB C port of the iPhone X allows both device charging and data transfer.
