In the world of home cleaning, robot vacuum cleaners have gained popularity in recent years thanks to their technological advances and the widespread use of so-called ‘roomba’ machines.
In this context, the company Matic Robots presented its latest product: the Matic robot vacuum cleanerwhich claims to be completely autonomous and capable of cleaning the floor proactively, without the need for constant instructions from the user.
The first completely autonomous robot vacuum cleaner
The company Matic Robots reported that its robot managed to overcome the challenges of 3D perception that other companies face in the design of robotic vacuum cleaners. Furthermore, thanks to the use of 5 RGB camerasclaim that this robot achieves high-precision simultaneous mapping and localization in indoor spaces.
And that’s not all. The device can also understand its environment in an advanced way. For example, it detects stains on the floor and proceeds to scrub the area until they disappear. In addition, it is capable of differentiating between areas that need vacuuming and those that need scrubbing, as well as recognizing various types of surfaces.
The Matic can even identify the user’s voice and prioritize commands over its autonomous functionality. For those concerned about privacy, Matic Robots’ robot performs all processing on the device itself, without sending data to the cloud.
Currently, the Matic is only available in the United States at a starting price of 1,400 euros until the end of the year, which includes an additional year of warranty and one year of free spare parts and consumables.
The founders of Matic Robots, Mehul Nariyawala and Navneet Dalal, highlight that they managed to address a core challenge in robotics: precise mapping and navigation from one point to another. They assure that the Matic will learn the user’s preferences over time, such as cleaning the kitchen after dinner.
